How do you summarise a true living legend’s rock music career that has spanned 60+ years and do it proper justice?
I’m not sure really I’m capable of that (short of doing a War & Peace length chapter) — so I will say rather simply instead — that it was a thrill and very rewarding to witness Alice Cooper during his most recent tour over in Australia.
The very accomplished, multi-faceted award winning, highly influential and time-honoured star — with his amazing assembly band of talented artists — headlined during the recent Pandemonium Festival shows within Australia. We were privileged to catch their set at North Brisbane’s Eaton Hills Hotel complex.
It was there that Alice Cooper and his group put on a show that most certainly met or exceeded all expectations.
Alice (real name is Vincent Damon Fumier), aptly backed by a remarkably skilled trio of guitar players: Nita Strauss, Ryan Roxie and Tommy Henriksen along with band backbones Chuck Garric (Bass) and Glen Sobel (Drummer), roared through their 70-minute set playing a selection of many Alice Cooper classics — all presented in the slickest and most professional manner.
For me it was a live show that both captivated and was reaffirming of all the respect he has earned from his massive fan base world wide (including little old me, circa 1972, effective with Album “Killer”)
Around the event I did do some research. Do you know that Alice Cooper has no less than 27 full albums to his credit (original band and solo)!
With all that very heavy lifting, Alice Cooper helped shape the very essence of what hard rock and metal music was and has become over his span of 6+ decades in the industry. Countless bands out there recognise and owe credit to “Shock Rock’s” premier Hall of Fame Member.
