Body Jar (Australia)

We got a taste of Australia veteran hard rockers – BODYJAR – who played a set during the 2023 edition Spring Loaded event festival (@Sandstone Point Hotel Bribie Island).

Bodyjar (from Melbourne) first formed in 1990 and they began performing under the name Bodyjar in 1994 after previous band names Damnation (1990–91) and Helium (1992–93).

Guitarist Cameron Baines (who also owns and operates a specialty store which sells skateboards and equipment, music, and apparel) is the lead vocalist and is the only remaining founding member of the original group.  His band mates are Tom Read (Guitar) Shane Wakker (Drums) and Nick Manuell (Bass guitar).

The band has some 12 studio albums to its credit – the most recent being “New Rituals” which was delayed in production by COVID but released in 2022.

Their style is rather atypical Australia-style pub punk – both familiar and effective with it’s fan base.

During this slick set at Bribie Island they were joined on stage by the lead singer of Magic Dirt – Adalita Srsen – who’s own band played a set later during the festival.
