Wolfmother is a rather commercially successfull Australian hard rock band which first formed from Sydney NSW in 2004.
The group is and has always been rightfully centred around vocalist and super skilled guitarist Andrew Stockdale, who is the only constant member of the line-up. The band has been through many personnel changes since formation but now includes James Wassenaar (Bass) and drummer Christian Condor – who both joined the band in 2023.
Over the years Wolfmother has held true to a signature sound prevalent for most of their career journey, hard rockin’ with notes of stoner/blues often well within that mix.
Stockdale’s vocals are strikingly similar and often compared to that of Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) so if one were to add in that with an element of bands similar to the Strokes and Jet — well you get the picture.
Known for touring rather relentlessly — the band also has 6 full length albums to their credit: Wolfmother (2005), Cosmic Egg (2009) ,New Crown (2014), Victorious (2016), Rock’n’Roll (2019) and (Rock Out (2021).
Arguably their most familiar singles were the releases “Woman” (2009) and “Joker And The Thief” (2005) which tracked well on the charts not only within Australia but also internationally.
For labels Interscope & Island Records the band has (to date) aggregately sold some 1.5 million copies worldwide.
