Our first encounter with Australia’s Underminer was just another example of why it’s important to get to a venue early.
This Sydney NSW-based band — which first formed in 2015 – were the opening act for this particular evening’s four band fight card of extreme music (@The Cambridge – Newcastle NSW) — and they did deliver a short but very aggressive set of metal/punk music.
The band’s official line-up of current members is listed as vocalist Lachlan Woods along with Brodie Graham, Matt Doherty and Stewart Hodges.
Their sound is about as hardcore as it comes — with Woods’ deep throated vocals meandering amongst aggressive layers of guitars — and while atypical of that genre — did also ooze a certain amount of quality and originality.
Still considered emerging — Underminer does have a number of independent releases that are available though Deaths Grip Records.
