No-holds barred Scandinavian metal was front and centre at Vancouver’s legendary Rickshaw Theatre stage when Finnish invaders Omnium Gatherium roared into town.
Fans were there early to make sure they did not miss this crushing ensemble of Markus Vanhala and Joonas Koto on guitars, Jukka Pelkonen on lead growling Vocals, Tuomo Latvala with Drums, Aapo Koivisto Keyboards, and Erkki Silvennoinen with Bass.
They are touring in support of their fantastic new album “The Burning Cold” — treating us to a few of the new songs like “Refining Fire” and “Gods Go First”.
Really enjoyed the musicianship of this crew from Finland but what really grabs me is that they were really appeared to be enjoying their craft. They were visibly happy to be onstage, and you can see it, talking and having a good time with each other too. Jukka likes to work to the crowd over and not afraid to be expressive with his hands and arms, singing in that deep growling voice of his, which definitely falls into the melodic death metal realm. The guitar work and solos were extremely well donel, and not straying too far from that Scandinavian sound that we all love. IF you love heads down, heavy driving riffage, you will enjoy these guys, they don’t disappoint.
