LMLCMedia was pleased and privileged after a pretty rare opportunity for interaction with some great artists from Japan — Coldrain.
After first being formed back in 2007 from Nagoya Japan they have reach impressive status within their home country’s pretty unique take on the worldwide hard core music scene.
After being pretty much punk for the early part of their careers – they did undergo a rather natural evolution to what now would be a post-hardcore category nu metal core class sound.
This group have seriously withstood the test of time. Rather uniquely – despite being all Japanese artists — all of their songs are in English — and since their formation the band has managed to retain the same lineup with no member changes!
Coldrain are headed by their dynamic lead vocalist Masato Hayakawa, guitarists Ryo Yokochi (Y.K.C.) and Kazuya Sugiyama (Sugi), bassist Ryo Shimizu (RxYxO) and drummer Katsuma Minatani.
We caught their set as an opening act during their most recent tour including Australia — marking the third time in their careers they have toured “down under”.
Label wise – Coldrain have been presented by VAP — Warner Music Japan — Century Media – Hopeless — Sony Music Japan — Sony Music Australia – while stacking up some 7 studio album releases.
The release date for their newest album (Optimize = Optimise) — on Sony Music/Century Media is imminent – scheduled for late September 2026.
