It was time for some “TPPP” (Techo-Punk-Power-Pop) immediately alongside the Brisbane River when Germany-based phenom group Electric Callboy played at that city’s fabulous River Stage outdoor facility!
For Electric Callboy – this show marked the final date of the band’s 2026 World Tour — including this Japan and Australia leg – promoting their newest album — critically claimed TANZNIED* – released earlier this year.
(*Tanznied Translation? According to the minds at AI = that is a newly coined combination of the German words to Tanz (dance) and Neid (envy). IE: A humorous feeling of jealousy of someone else’s great dance moves?)
While we may be first to admit taking in this event date did not fall within the normal boundaries for our mostly darker and extreme palate for hard music – we most certainly did get a taste and concur to the pretty amazing worldwide attraction of the group.
Electric Callboy have for sure “found their calling” (pardon the pun) with an electrifying sound that appeals to a much wider broadband of musical fans – encompassing both age and preference – and good on them for that effort and vision.
As fans already know their on-line videos are truly fun and humourous to watch — and now we can also testify — the same can be said for their stage presence.
Led by bantering/duelling vocals of co-lead singers Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach – their show was about as high energy as one could expect — and their avid fan base more than got their money’s worth this evening.
Electric Callboy group is rounded out by Daniel Haniß & Pascal Schillo (Guitars) Daniel Klossek (Bass) and Frank Zummo (Drummer).
To describe their sound is actually pretty difficult to categorise. Perhaps one quick & dirty analogy might now be somehow if Back Street Boys got themselves a heavy injection of Rammstein?
But whatever you want to call it? (We are going to go with TPPP per above!) – it is why we all love rock music – and another example of the special creativity and directions it can offer and take us.
The band which first formed (in 2010) from Castrop-Rauxel, Germany – has a number of albums to their credit.
Their label for their albums Bury Me in Vegas (2012) and We Are the Mess (2014) — is on Redfield Records.
Century Media Records is their current one — including albums Tekkno (2022) and Tanzneid (2026), as well as The Scene (2017) and Rehab (2019).
