Founded in 2005 by Alex Martel, a 17-year old kid from Montebello, Rockfest quickly became the largest rock festival in Canada, welcoming thousands of music fans from around the world. Alex rose to prominence thanks to his unique background story, entrepreneurial success, proximity with festival-goers and world tours with his band Deadly Apples, winning countless tourism and cultural awards, as well as participating in several high-profile interviews in Canada. With the help of Pointe-Calumet’s Beachclub owner Olivier Primeau, the beloved festival was relaunched in 2019 as Montebello Rock with a ‘back to the roots’ concept.
